Home Sweet Home and other projects..

Look at this lovely book I found at less than half price the other day. It's filled with some really nice soft furnishing ideas as well as other pretty stuff. These are my favourites.

I found time to take some photos of the fabric I bought on Saturday at Amitie. Each pile (don't you love piles of fabric?!) is for a special project which I will reveal once they are complete. They are for some special friends.

Now I need some advice. I would like to start putting labels on my work and want some ideas. I quite like this clever idea although it's time consuming. Maybe a professionally woven label or printed label. Any suggestions?

Ooohhh, those little hand embroidered tags are adorable! Do you by any chance have access to an embroidery machine? If so, you can see what I did with mine -- they're just simple and embroidered on twill tape -- but they were fun to play with! Scroll down to the end of the post.... http://thimbleanna.blogspot.com/2007/02/quiet-weekend.html
You could also do something cute with twill tape and sharpie pens -- maybe have a little "stick" drawing with your name??? Look at http://www.leanneshouse.typepad.com/ and scroll down for some inspirational ways to use that pen!

I'm so jealous of that Jane Cumberbatch book - it's great isn't it?. I love all her books, but don't own any yet.

I have that book! It's been a great help to me as a teach yourself sewing guide, I just love it.

beautiful images and I love your piles. Can't wait to see what they become. I get my labels from here http://www.apparellabels.com.au/ there are also a few etsy sellers that do labels.

I so (or sew!) wish that Cairns had a half decent fabric store!!! Urgh. I miss Melbourne sometimes with its fabulous choises of stores to shop from! I must get my hands on that book - which might just encourage me to be a (neater) better sewer! Those little tags are gorgeous but maybe you could get professional ones done?
