Progress, parcels and pics

I thought you might like to see the progress on the train quilt. I had all kinds of trouble with the measurements I was given and finally managed to calculate them myself. So it's all cut and I'm sewing every spare minute I can because I can't wait to see it all together and get quilting.

And there's more to show you. Yesterday these gorgeous fabrics arrived. I am a bit suspicious though as there is meant to be two parcels and so far I only have one. I bought them on sale through here and their prices are fantastic. I am collecting lots of 1930's and flour sack fabrics to put aside for a single bed quilt for one of my girls. Something like this or this.

I also bought some to add to a blue and green stash I have for a quilt I plan on making for my bed.

And the rest is to use for a summer twirly skirt for Chloe and maybe a wrap skirt me.

Yesterday they emailed me with another 10% discount so I have bought even more - it's simply too hard to resist!!

The other day I received this book from Amazon.

Aside from the beautiful pictures and patterns it has some really clear instructions on all the basics of cutting, handsewing, machine piecing and applique. It has one particular quilt pattern perfect for the blue and green quilt that I want on my bed - another project, another day.

And today I received my new camera. Did I tell you my very sweet and lovely Lucinda was mucking around with my camera a few weeks ago and virtually threw it under the table she was sitting at. It was going to cost more than $250 to fix because the iris was broken so we bought a new model for $295 instead. And it's gorgeous!

Lucky for me my mother has one too and let me borrow it for a while. I couldn't imagine life without a camera!

And with that I leave you with a photo of my Lucinda ......

.... how could I stay angry with that beautiful face!

You must love your postman. All your fabrics look delicious.

The train quilt is coming along so well - I love it.

We also have an older version of that camera. The lighting bugs me sometimes but the mest part is it's response time when you click the button...and the kid mode is quite good.

Cheers, have a good weekend

Love your blog. Wow, every great blog I have linked to in my 3 whole weeks of blogging have been Australian! Will you adopt me? Only kidding. I will put you on my site in my favs. I know how to make lined aprons but it was a pleasure to read your tutorial. And I love your bags, and your quilts, and everything. Thanks for the cheerful inspiration. Visit Dolly Dilettante and say hello. Regards, Meg Jewell

I think you and I have similar taste in fabrics. I love what you are doing with the train fabric. Can't wait to see the result. Also, I just adore the 1930's quilts - I would love to have one and I have lots of fabrics - just haven't got around to it. Different shapes other than square or triangle scare me.
Love the picture of Lucinda. so cute.

That train quilt is going to look fab! And you've got a great eye for the colour matching of side-by-side fabrics. I also love the 1930s repro prints, but kinda obsessed with Japanese at the moment. Have fun with the new toy! How nice!

Hello...
I was wondering if you would share the pattern for your train quilt? I'm willing to buy it, if you desire. I have the MM fabric, and am at a loss for a pattern for this wonderful material. It' for my best friend's grandson, coming soon!
All the best,
Jeanne, Houston, Texas

Jeanne - I hope you read this as I'm not sure how to contact you. I would be happy to share the quilt pattern and you have inspired me to have a go at making it into a proper design. I will also do a post about the quilt soon and maybe you will read that. If you do see this could you email at the address provided on my blogger profile page. Thanks.
