Fall in Spring

A quick post tonight to say hi I'm back from my holiday and to show you my finished Autumn quilt for the Four Seasons Quilt Swap.

Autumn Tree quilt for the Four Seasons quilt swap

I was quite glad to finish this in the end - but I'm so very pleased with the outcome! Don't you LOVE the stripey orange binding?!

'Fall' quilt

It is now on its way to its new home - I hope she likes it!

'Fall' quilt

I will post some of the back once the quilt arrives.

Now I am off to bed. We had a six hour car journey today and I'm exhausted. Will fill you in during the week on the lovely warm beachy holiday we just had. It's back to school on Monday!

Hello,

That is really lovely. I'm quite attracted to this type of quilt. I'm pretty ignorant on all matters quilting, so sorry about the stupid questions. Are the tree and all the leaves appliqued? So there is no piecing involved?
What sort of fabric is the white? Is it special quilting fabric? And, last question I promise, is it hand or machine quilted?
Sorry, I had no intention of asking so many questions, I really only came to say how much I like your quilt.

Hi Allison - ask as many questions as you like, I'm happy to answer anytime! Yes, the tree and leaves are appliqued. I love doing applique - particularly on these little quilts. The white fabric is actually sort of off white and is quilter's muslin. You can find this easily and it comes in various levels of quality. I really love the japanese ones like I am using for the train quilt I am making - the quality is just beautiful. And last, I made the whole quilt by hand including the quilting. Again, this is easy on the smaller quilts although I just taught a girlfriend how to hand quilt about 2 weeks ago and she has nearly finished her first single bed quilt! Now that is something I have never done!

Thanks for the quilt love everyone!

So pretty. Applique scares me, I always think it would be so difficult. Hope you had a lovely break. School holidays are wonderful but it's nice to have a routine again!
