Grrrrrr - boys' toys!

I don't have any boys so when it comes to buying them gifts I can get a bit stuck.

But when we received the invitation to my nephew's dinosaur themed 3rd Birthday party surprisingly I knew exactly what to make.

Ages ago I bought some fantastic fabric from Spotlight and wish I'd had the foresight to buy heaps more. It is waterproofed and absolutely brilliant for little bags.

So I made him a special dinosaur bag!

Dinosaur bag for Angus

And bought a heap of little dinosaurs and trees to go inside.

This guy was the biggest and scariest.

grrrr

I told him to hide!

Boo!

These went too.

card and soaps for Angus

He loved it all! Ahh the satisfaction of getting something just right!

Perfect, Louise! You hit the nail on the head -- I am the mother of a three-year-old, and I know for sure he would love something like that. If you ever need another idea, this is my recent "go to" for young boys -- it is a winner every time (oh, and I guess it would work for girls as well since there is a girl version, although I haven't made one for girls yet)...

The only changes I made were making the neck opening bigger (with extra velcro so it would be usable for a few years), and sharp corners at the bottom (rather than rounded).

You did a pretty great job for your nephew's birthday present. My son loved dinosaurs, matchbox cars and lego especially.

This is such a great idea, I have the dame material and it never occured to make a bag out it. I think I will definately have to make Caleb one for Kindy this year.

Dinosaurs! Impossible to go wrong. But looks like you got it especially right.

Funny, isn't it - I often have the same dilemma with girls presents!

What a super present, and just like a lucky dip to find all the little presents inside. I can just imagine the look of glee on the little boy's face when pulling them all out. x

Hello there! I just stumbled upon your blog today and I have to say, I'm thinking of taking the afternoon off, to go home and sew! If only life were that easy. I can't wait to go back and read more posts.
